The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) earlier announced that the 500-meter beach nourishment project named Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach will be reopened on June 12, coinciding with the celebration of the country’s 124th Independence Day.

The World War II Heritage Cannon will also be unveiled on June 12 in the Remedios area fronting the Rajah Sulayman Park “to encourage patriotism among the public and to signify that the battle to cleanup Manila Bay is not yet over," DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones earlier said.

The WW II Heritage Cannon was one of the cannons from Fort Drum Island located at the mouth of Manila Bay, the DENR added. —KG, GMA News
