NAIA runway undergoes maintenance repair, some flights affected
A runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was closed temporarily for repair early Sunday morning, the Manila International Airport Authority said.
The MIAA said NAIA's international runway 06-24 was temporarily closed from 1:30 a.m. to 6:20 a.m. for the repair of a pothole on the pavement.
The closure affected flights using wide body aircraft, it added.
Meanwhile, the domestic runway 13-31 remained open during runway 06-24's temporary closure, the MIAA said.
The repair on the international runway was finished and operations went back to normal on Sunday morning, Super Radyo reporter Mao dela Cruz reported past 7 a.m.
However flights from the following areas have new arrival schedules:
- Vancouver;
- Bangkok;
- Hanoi;
- Los Angeles - flight was diverted to Clark International Airport at 4 a.m.;
- San Francisco;
- New York;
- Phnom Penh;
- Singapore;
- Jakarta;
- Ho Chi Minh; and
- Dubai.
The departure schedules of the following flights to these destinations were also delayed:
- Hong Kong;
- Bangkok; and
- Singapore.
