Flights canceled as Mactan Airport closes runway to remove aircraft

The runway of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) was temporarily closed until midnight on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, as operators seek to remove the disabled Korean Air aircraft which overshot the airstrip over the weekend.

According to the MCIA Authority (MCIAA), Korean Air flight KE631 from Incheon, South Korea overshot the runway in a landing attempt during heavy rains on Sunday evening.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has since issued a Notice to Airmen that the Mactan Runway would remain closed until midnight on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
