MMDA: Road reblocking, repairs for March 15-18, 2024


The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, on Friday, announced upcoming Department of Public Works and Highways road reblocking and repairs along major roads in Metro Manila over the weekend.

The MMDA said that the following roads would be closed starting 11 p.m. on Friday, March 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, March 18:

  • Taft Avenue cor. Pedro Gil (2nd lane), Manila City
  • EDSA (SB), J.P Rizal Avenue to Orense 3rd lane from sidewalk, Makati City
  • EDSA (NB), Between Tandang Sora Street to General Malvar Street 2nd lane from sidewalk, Caloocan City
  • EDSA (NB), EDSA Northbound Balintawak After LRT Station (1st Lane), EDSA Northbound Balintawak After Oliveros Footbridge (1st lane), EDSA Northbound Balintawak Before Oliveros Footbridge (1st Lane), Caloocan City

“The affected roads will be fully passable by 5 a.m. on Monday, March 18,” the announcement read.

Meanwhile, West Avenue- Ligaya Street to Del Monte Avenue and Batasan- Commonwealth Tunnel, Filinvest 1 Road to Commonwealth will also be closed for road repairs starting 10 p.m. on Friday, March 15, and will reopen at 5 a.m. on March 22.

Nighttime asphalt overlay activities by the DPWH will also be conducted on the following roads from 11 p.m. on March 15 until 5 a.m. on March 26:

  • Aurora Boulevard Westbound from Yale to Annapolis
  • Kamias Road, Quezon City (from Kasing-Kasing Street to before Anonas Street)

Motorists passing through the aforementioned roads over the weekend are advised to take alternative routes.

Earlier, the Department of Transportation also warned of a possible traffic slowdown along the Port Area in Manila to Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City due to road closures caused by the transportation of the Metro Manila Subway Project’s (MMSP) Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) from 9 p.m. on March 15 to 4 a.m. on March 16, and 9 p.m. on March 16 to 4 a.m. on March 17.

The TBM will be used to construct tunnels for the MMSP’s Camp Aguinaldo Station and Ortigas Station. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
