LRT1 to suspend operations for 3 weekends
The Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT1) will be temporarily suspending its operations for three weekends to give way to preparations for the opening of the Phase 1 of its extension in Cavite in the latter part of the year, the Light Rail Manila Corporation announced Friday.
“LRT-1 will TEMPORARILY SUSPEND OPERATIONS for three (3) weekends to fast-track preparations for the expected opening of LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 in the 4th Quarter of 2024,” LRMC said in an advisory posted on the social media.
It said there will be no commercial train service available from Fernando Poe Jr. (formerly Muñoz) Station to Baclaran Station on:
- August 17 to 18
- August 24 to 25
- August 31 to September 1.
“The temporary closures will result in long-term convenience once the extended #LRT1 line becomes operational,” it added.
LRMC advised commuters to plan their trips accordingly and utilize alternative transport options.
Phase 1 of the LRT1 Cavite Extension Project covers the first five additional stations spanning over six kilometers within the city of Parañaque, namely: Redemptorist, MIA, PITX Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos.
Phase 1 will extend the existing Line 1 by 6.2 kilometers.
It is expected to significantly reduce travel time and benefit up to 600,000 passengers daily.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
