PNR to resume Legazpi-Naga train service on March 16, 2025 after mishap
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) will resume its Legazpi-Naga train service on Sunday, March 16, after an inspection train was hit by a tanker truck at Paloyon Crossing in Nabua, Camarines Sur.
According to the PNR, affected routes will be operational starting Sunday with the following schedules:
- Legazpi to Naga – 4:49 a.m.
- Naga to Legazpi – 5:30 p.m.
The two routes had to be immediately reopened due to "high connectivity demand," the PNR said Saturday.
Meanwhile, other PNR routes will continue operations as scheduled:
- Calamba to Lucena – 5:45 p.m.
- Naga to Sipocot – 3:30 p.m.
- Sipocot to Naga – 5:00 p.m.
The inspection train was clearing tracks for an incoming passenger train when the collision occurred, causing it to derail.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was taken to the Bicol Medical Center for treatment and was reported in stable condition as of posting time.
Traffic in the area has returned to "normal" after a rerouting scheme was implemented, the PNR reported.
The PNR reminded motorists and pedestrians to always observe the "Stop, Look, and Listen" safety principle to prevent similar incidents. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
