Odd-even scheme dry run in EDSA now for a month, may be further extended —MMDA

Odd-even scheme dry run in EDSA now for a month, may be further extended —MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday said the dry run for the odd-even number coding scheme on EDSA is extended to a month.

In an update, the MMDA added that the dry run for the odd-even scheme on the major thoroughfare—which was initially set for a week starting June 16—may be further extended.

“Magsasagawa ng isang buwang dry run ang MMDA para sa odd-even scheme na sa EDSA LAMANG ipatutupad simula June 16, 2025,” the MMDA said.

(The MMDA will conduct a one-month dry run for the odd-even scheme which will be implemented ONLY on EDSA starting June 16, 2025.)

“Bagamat hindi pa mag-i-isyu ng ticket at hindi papatawan ng multa, aabisuhan ang mga motoristang lalabag sa polisiyang ito sa loob ng isang buwan bilang bahagi ng information drive,” it added.

(Although tickets will not be issued and fines will not be imposed, motorists who violate this policy will be notified within one month as part of the information drive.)

The odd-even scheme on EDSA will be implemented to reduce the volume of vehicles in light of the expected heavy traffic during the rehabilitation of the major thoroughfare.

“Ang bawal po sa EDSA, ‘yung 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 na ending plate ay bawal ng Monday, Wednesday and Friday. ‘Yung 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 ay bawal ng Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Sunday po, libre po gumamit ng EDSA ang lahat ng sasakyan,” MMDA chairperson Romando Artes said.

(Vehicles with 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 ending plates are not allowed on EDSA on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Those with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 ending plates are not allowed on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. On Sunday, all vehicles are free to pass through EDSA.)

The odd-even scheme will be initially implemented for 24 hours, but the MMDA plans to provide a window period from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. later on.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
