LRT-2 to implement shortened operations on July 25, 2026 for track repairs
The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will have shortened operating hours on July 25 to give way for the immediate repair and replacement of the rigid frognose on the mainline track between V. Mapa and J. Ruiz Stations.
On the said date, the first trip from Antipolo and Recto stations will start at 5 a.m. However, the last trip from Antipolo Station will be until 7:30 p.m., and from Recto Station will only be until 8 p.m.
“Samantala, maglalaan ang LRTA ng mga shuttle van bilang alternatibong transportasyon para sa mga apektadong pasahero. Makikipagtulungan din ito sa Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), at Philippine National Railways (PNR) upang makapaglaan ng karagdagang transportasyon,” the advisory read.
(Meanwhile, the LRTA will provide shuttle vans as an alternative mode of transportation for affected passengers. It will also coordinate with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Philippine National Railways (PNR) to provide additional transportation.)
The rigid frognose is a part of the rail that ensures the smooth passage of the train when it switches to another track.
LRT-2 runs across 13 stations: Recto, Legarda, Pureza, V. Mapa, J. Ruiz, Gilmore, Betty Go-Belmonte, Araneta Center-Cubao, Anonas, Katipunan, Santolan, Marikina-Pasig, and Antipolo. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RSJ, GMA News
