Typhoon Butchoy (International name: Nepartak) has slightly weakened and is about to make landfall over southeast Taiwan, says PAGASA.
Based on the 5 a.m. Severe Weather Bulletin, Typhoon Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2 is raised over the Batanes group of islands while TCWS No. 2 is raised over the Babuyan group of islands.
As of 4 a.m., the eye of the typhoon was located based on all available data inclduing the Basco Doppler Radar at 220 kilometers North Northwest of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
"Butchoy" will enhance the Southwest monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, Cavite and Mindoro. — BAP/KG, GMA News
