BLACK NAZARENE FEAST

Palace declares Jan. 9, 2024 special non-working day in Manila

Malacañang has declared Tuesday, January 9, 2024, a special non-working day in the City of Manila due to the observance of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Proclamation No. 434, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on January 4, stated.

Around two million people are expected to participate in the 2024 Black Nazarene feast.

To secure the activities, the Philippine National Police said around 15,000 police personnel would be deployed.

Over 5,600 personnel will be initially deployed along the route of the Traslacion or the procession of the 400-year-old image from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
