Cebu City suspends January 20 classes due to Sinulog 2025

The Cebu City government announced Sunday that classes at all levels would be suspended on Monday, January 20, to allow participants to rest after the 2025 Sinulog Festival celebrations.

However, Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia clarified that government offices would remain operational.

The Sinulog Festival honors the Santo Niño, celebrating the virtues of the child Jesus. The feast is also observed in other parts of the country, such as Pandacan and Tondo in Manila, and Kalibo, Aklan.

Sunday’s Sinulog Grand Showdown 2025 at the Cebu City Sports Center features over 40 competing contingents.

On Saturday, approximately 1.4 million devotees joined the Solemn Foot Procession, according to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
