Classes in some areas in Albay province have been suspended on Wednesday due to the inclement weather. 

Below are the class suspensions in Albay for January 7, 2026: 

Legazpi City - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private 

Municipality of Oas - no classes, all levels, public and private (effective 12 p.m.)

Municipality of Pio Duran - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private (effective 12 p.m.)

Municipality of Guinobatan - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private (effective 12 p.m.)

Municipality of Santo Domingo - no face-to-face classes, all levels (effective 12 p.m.)

Municipality of Polangui - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private (effective 12 p.m.)

Ligao City - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private (effective 12 p.m.)

Municipality of Libon - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private (effective 12 p.m.)

Aside from the inclement weather, the province of Albay is also affected by the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano. 

Over 2,000 individuals have been evacuated from their homes due to the activity of Mayon Volcano, Albay Governor Noel Rosal said on Wednesday.

Alert Level 3 was raised over Mayon Volcano in Albay on Tuesday after pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson” were recorded, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

PHIVOLCS said an Alert Level 3 for Mayon means “high level of volcanic unrest." —AOL, GMA Integrated News
