Malacañang on Sunday suspended face-to-face classes and in-person government work for Monday, August 10, 2026 in Metro Manila and 15 provinces amid the heavy rain and flooding due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay.

In an announcement on Sunday evening, the Palace said that in-person classes at all levels in both public and private schools, as well as in-person work in government offices, have been suspended in the following areas:

  • National Capital Region (NCR)
  • Ilocos Sur
  • La Union
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Rizal
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Benguet
  • Pangasinan
  • Abra
  • Tarlac
  • Pampanga
  • Oriental Mindoro
  • Bulacan

"Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas on 10 August 2026," the Palace said.

Work-from-home arrangements, meanwhile, will be implemented in government offices in these areas. "Agencies involved in the delivery of basic health and services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services are hereby directed to continue their operations and render the necessary services," the Palace said.

Several local governments have already made their own announcements on class and work suspensions. — BM, GMA News
