Viva Hot Babes to hold reunion concert in October

The Viva Hot Babes are set to reunite for a concert at the New Frontier Theater on October 23.

Andrea del Rosario, Maui Taylor, and Katya Santos confirmed the reunion on Thursday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda."

Katya previously said that there would be no reunion for the group that popularized the songs "Bulaklak" and "Kikay" in the 2000s. Tito Boy asked how the reunion finally pushed through.

"That time, early January, we really had our own priorities. Especially me, I had planned to have a baby this year," Katya said in Filipino.

"So I delayed it because of the reunion. So it's a very big decision for me to delay it for the reunion. I don't want to be selfish. I told them, let's do it."

Andrea also said that the Viva Hot Babes are only on their 23rd anniversary this year, unlike the SexBomb Girls, who reunited for their 25th anniversary.

"Boss Vic [Del Rosario] spoke to us. He said, 'If you're not going to do it now, then when?' That's why we decided that OK, let's do it," Katya said.

"Like what Boss Vic said, it's like the year of the comeback for everyone because a lot of people are coming back, groups, so why not do it? I mean, the management would know better than us," Maui added.

The ladies also said that SexBomb invited them to appear as guests in their Get Get Aw reunion concert, but they could not make the schedule work as a complete group.

They added that they would love to have SexBomb as guests in their Bulaklak reunion concert.

Fans of the two groups have pitted them as rivals in the 2000s, but the members said they are actually friends in real life.

Aside from Andrea, Maui, and Katya, other original Viva Hot Babes members include Gwen Garci, Jen Rosendahl, Sheree Bautista, Myles Hernandez, Kristine Jaca, and Hazel Cabrera. The group debuted in 2003. —MGP, GMA News
