David Licauco, Dustin Yu, more Sparkle boys excited for 'Bida sa Arena: The Rematch' in Cebu

The Sparkle Boys are ready to bring their A-game as they face their basketball rivals once again in “Arena: The Rematch,” this time in Cebu.

According to Nelson Canlas’ report on “24 Oras” on Friday, team captain David Licauco is confident that the Sparkle team is more prepared for their second showdown.

"Different shows, different schedules. So for us who are together now like look at this, we're like a team. We're like a real basketball team so it's nice to experience that with Sparkle," David said in a mix of Filipino and English.

"It's ready. I've prepared better than the last time. We're more ready because they've experienced the first time at the MOA Arena. So I feel like this time around, they're more familiar with the big crowd and playing in a big arena. So we're looking forward to it,” he added.

The rematch also gave David’s best friend, Dustin Yu, a chance to take a break from his busy schedule and join his Sparkle Bros. on the court.

“I recently came from a lock-in taping. We were filming the movie ‘Sisikat Sisikat.’ We made sure to enjoy all the games. That’s probably it. It’s hard to play when you don’t know your teammates. And it’s such a bonus that I get to play with David,” Dustin said.

Meanwhile, Anthony Constantino, who was named Player of the Game during the first Arena match, said he feels no pressure heading into the rematch.

“So it just really comes to me pretty easy. Honestly, all of these guys are my friends. So I’m really playing with my family here, my team Sparkle,” Anthony said.

Anthony is also looking forward to playing in Cebu, especially with the support of Shuvee Etrata and her family and fans, who will be on their home court.

“Because we’re in Shuvee’s home court, so all of Shuvee’s fans, especially Shuvee’s family, will be there,” he said. “I’m really just excited to put on a show. And of course, just to be there with Shuvee in Cebu is always a blessing."

For Rayver Cruz, however, the best part of the Cebu trip goes beyond the game itself.

“The best thing, really, is the camaraderie. The family and the solid bond of brotherhood here in Team Sparkle,” Rayver said.

Dubbed "Bida sa Arena: The Rematch," the exhibition game will take place on Saturday, September 26 at the SM Seaside Cebu Arena, where celebrities from Sparkle and Third Floor will face off on the basketball court.
