UNIS' Gehlee to return to the Philippines for solo career, studies

Gehlee is coming back home.

The Filipina member of K-pop group UNIS is returning to the Philippines on September 29. She is set to finish school and will pursue a solo career with upcoming projects and activities.

Gehlee is signed under Universal Records Philippines, with its talent management arm GLXY Talent Management and Star Horizon TV Production overseeing her management in the Philippines.

She joins the growing roster of international talents represented by Universal Records and GLXY, including Korean artists Kim Myung Soo and Choi Bo Min, as well as Thai internet sensation Aon Somrutai.

Gehlee first captured international attention through "Universe Ticket," the global survival program that formed the K-pop girl group UNIS. Media company SBS approached Universal Records Philippines to scout local talents and she auditioned.

In the competition, Gehlee was a standout and garnered the highest number of votes. She was ultimately called in the fourth spot to debut with UNIS.

UNIS debuted on March 27, 2024, with their first mini album "We UNIS."

They disbanded on September 26. Following the announcement, Gehlee expressed her gratitude to fans, EverAfter, on Weverse.

Filipinos Elisia and Gehlee, as well as Filipino-Korean Hyeonju, were part of the group. The other members were Nana, Kotoko, Yunha, Yoona, and Seowon.

UNIS songs include "Superwoman," "Curious," and "Swicy." Their latest single "Milky Way" served as a final letter to fans. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
