David Licauco begins martial arts training for PH adaptation of 'Fight For My Way'
David Licauco has started training in mixed martial arts (MMA) and taekwondo for his upcoming project, the Philippine adaptation of the 2017 K-drama "Fight For My Way."
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" Thursday, the Kapuso star shared that the training brought him back to his old self.
"This was my dream before. It was really my dream to become like Jackie Chan, Jet Li. I loved watching action films growing up," he shared in a mix of Filipino and English.
The original series starred Park Seo Jun and Kim Ji Won, together with Ahn Jae Hong and Song Ha Yoon.
David will star in the Philippine adaptation opposite Ashtine Olviga. Joining them are Aubrey Caraan and McCoy De Leon. The series will be directed by Crisanto B. Aguino and will stream on Viva One.
Per Carampel's report, Park Seo Jun is one of David's idols, so he made sure to watch the K-drama series.
Beyond showbiz, David has been juggling his business ventures; he is currently building a gym aside from expanding his food business.
"I'm happy with what I have and what I am currently doing, showbiz, business, but you never know what's gonna happen in the future. I didn't dream of becoming an actor, I didn't dream of becoming a businessman, right, so you never know. We don't know. Maybe next time my dream will be different," he said.
David is also fresh from the Bida sa Arena: The Rematch exhibition basketball game, which was held in Cebu on September 26. Team Sparkle, led by David, lost anew to Team Third Floor, led by Gerald Anderson.
While he admitted he felt bad about their loss, David accepted their defeat with grace, saying "It is what it is."
"It's over, let's move forward. We're just grateful that we became part of it. I feel like if there would be a third game, we will win," he said.
David recently starred in the GMA Prime series "Never Say Die" with Jillian Ward. Meanwhile, Ashtine recently won Best Actress at the Manila International Film Festival for her performance in "Manila's Finest."
