Yasmien Kurdi, Rainier Castillo recall reactions after losing to Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras in 'StarStruck'
Yasmien Kurdi and Rainier Castillo recalled their reactions after losing to Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras in the first season of “StarStruck.”
On Wednesday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Kapuso celebrities looked back on the results of the competition, which named Jennylyn and Mark as its first Ultimate Survivors.
Yasmien admitted she was initially disappointed with the outcome but said she was happy for Jennylyn.
“I was disappointed," she began before cracking a joke. "I felt cheated — No, just kidding! Just kidding, okay? I’m happy for Jennylyn, you know. I was okay with it. I was happy that she was the Ultimate Survivor,” she said in Filipino.
She also recalled how her disappointment affected her the following day.
“I was so upset that I had diarrhea and I wasn’t able to attend our guest appearance on ‘Sis’," Yasmien narrated.
"GMA even thought I had transferred to another network back then. They thought I had transferred, and all sorts of rumors started spreading. A tabloid headline said, ‘Yasmien has transferred,’ I was called ungrateful,” Yasmien continued.
Meanwhile, Rainier said he took the results in stride, noting the contestants did not expect to all become actors and sign contracts with GMA Network.
“For me, it was just normal. We never really knew that we would all become actors. We didn’t know that we would all get contracts with GMA,” he said.
Yasmien was named the “StarStruck” Batch 1 First Princess and Rainier was First Prince.
