'PBB Collab 3.0': Nicole Fortuna, Anthony Constantino tear up as they open up about their families
Nicole Fortuna and Anthony Constantino turned emotional as they shared personal stories about their families in the latest episode of “Pinoy Big Brother: Collab Edition 3.0.”
In Saturday’s episode, the two Kapuso housemates opened up about their family experiences while completing Kuya’s task of learning the Filipino language.
Nicole recalled moving to England with her family when she was two years old. Although she initially spoke some Filipino words, she eventually stopped using the language as she grew older.
She also shared how her older brother’s autism diagnosis affected their family’s decision to use only one language at home.
“When I was four years old, my brother was diagnosed with autism. He was nonverbal, Kuya. So when my mom used to talk to the child psychologist, they told my mom to use only one language in the household because having two might confuse him,” she said.
Now 19, Nicole’s brother has the mental development of a much younger child.
Nicole admitted feeling guilty that she and her brother did not have the same close relationship she had observed among other siblings.
“I feel quite guilty, Kuya, saying this because I love my brother so much. But I don't think our relationship is as deep as other people's sibling relationships,” Nicole said.
She also recalled feeling embarrassed about her brother when she was younger, especially when she compared their relationship with those of her friends and their siblings.
"When I look back to when I was younger, I used to be embarrassed of him. It's so... It's so rude. And this is why I feel guilty of it."
Meanwhile, Anthony reflected on how his experience inside the “Pinoy Big Brother” house has helped him appreciate his Filipino roots and learn more about the country's culture.
“Being here in the Philippines, it has just given me so much, Kuya. Whether that's knowledge or whether that's strength or whether that's knowing where my family roots are from, I'm able to think about stuff that I've never thought about before,” he said.
Anthony added that his desire to learn more about Filipino culture is also a way of honoring his grandparents.
“Honestly, I'm doing it for my grandparents,” he shared.
The housemate also became emotional as he talked about his late grandparents, saying he wished he could speak to them again, regardless of the language.
“I know that they're smiling and they're probably laughing at me when I'm speaking in Tagalog. But you know what? I know that I would just feel happy to talk to them in any language,” he said.
Anthony further revealed that his lola's birthday fell on Halloween, making the occasion an especially emotional reminder of his grandparents.
“I just miss them. I really miss them, Kuya,” he said.
