WATCH: Lea Salonga sings 'A Whole New World' with random audience members
Social media was abuzz over Lea Salonga's performance of "A Whole New World" this past couple of days with the vocal group Il Divo, as she demonstrated her vocal chops some 22 years after the song was first released.
But diehard fans of Lea should not be surprised; after all, "A Whole New World" has been a staple of her concerts the past few years. Even better, she usually taps a random member of the audience to sing the song with her.
"Lea surprises her audience by inviting a random enthusiastic volunteer to take on the role of Aladdin and join her on stage to sing 'A Whole New World' ...that night SHE PICKED ME!!" wrote YouTube user Jared Young, who uploaded the video, after their performance at Brigham Young University.
Lea also did the same thing during a performance at UCLA, with audience member Tim having to sing into a lapel mic.
In Arizona, Lea picked Elvin Dioquino.
In Hawaii, Lea selected Quang Huynh, giving him tips about how to do it.
As a bonus, it's Lea's turn to sing the song impromptu in a bar, with "Glee" star Darren Criss on piano.
