Radio GMA to exclusively broadcast Pacquiao-Mayweather fight live from Las Vegas

Among all the radio stations in the Philippines, only GMA radio stations have an exclusive right to broadcast the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight live from Las Vegas on May 3 (Philippine time).

"The radio [coverage] will be exclusive to GMA so that's DZBB," said Solar Entertainment, Inc. President Wilson Tieng.

The friendship of GMA Vice President for Radio Mike Enriquez and Tieng made this exclusive coverage possible. "Mike [is] my dearest friend for more than 30 years. It would be exclusive to Mike because Mike has been with me so long," added Tieng.

"GMA Radio is proud to once again be a partner of Solar in bringing the latest Pacquiao adventure, this time against Floyd Mayweather, Jr., live and real time from Las Vegas," shared Mike.

"This is not going to be a delayed broadcast or what and this will be aired not only in Mega Manila but in all our radio station AM and FM from as far as south of Tuguegarao to as far south of Zamboanga. So even the people in places like Maguindanao and Basilan, they will have a chance to listen to live real-time blow-by-blow fight," he added.

The radio coverage of the fight will be a great factor in increasing TV viewership. "Experience has shown us undeniably that 'pag maganda po 'yung laban na napakinggan nila [nang] live sa radio, it [creates] a surge in the TV viewership," he explained. -- Al Kendrick Noguera, GMANetwork.com
