Cannes Best Actress Jaclyn Jose back in PHL, attends event for new GMA-7 show

Jaclyn Jose arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday from France after winning the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend.

The veteran actress immediately motored off to GMA Network Center in Quezon City, where she was given a warm Kapuso welcome at an event for her new comedy show.

"Experimental po ng GMA na comedy, sitcom," she said in a live interview on "24 Oras" about her new show titled "A1 Ko Sa 'Yo," a sexy comedy series that also stars Solenn Heussaff, Sef Cadayona, Ervic Vijandre, Denise Barbacena, and Gardo Verzosa.

"I'm so excited," she added.

She was feted at Cannes for her turn in Brillante Mendoza's "Ma'Rosa" where she played a shop owner who dealt drugs on the side to combat poverty.

In her interview with Mike Enriquez and Vicky Morales, she noted how the role required her to veer away from her usual persona in GMA-7 shows, which required her to play up the campy aspects of her characters. "Comedy, kontrabida... we require a lot of facial movements," she said.

But she said her quiet performance in the film, which she described as "no acting acting," wasn't a problem.

"Galing naman po ako sa subtle acting," she said. —JST, GMA News
