Aldub celebrates 2nd anniversary

It has been exactly two years since the EatBulaga! cameraman accidently panned the camera on Maine Mendoza, who was crushing hard on Alden Richards behind the scenes. The entire EB crew called her out with Maine unable to hide her kilig.

Much has happened since then, with fans diligently documenting everything on social media — Twitter in particular — drumming up hashtags, which would quickly trend the world over.

On October 24, 2015, AlDub made history when 55,000 fans trooped to the Philippine Arena for the #AlDubEBTamangPanahon event.

It even made the Guinness Book of World Records as the most used hashtag in 24 hours clocking in more than 40 million Tweets.

Twitter executives even flew in for the October event to see for themselves what the daily ruckus was all about, with the accounts of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards soon becoming verified.

The entire world soon joined in on the AlDub fun, with international media outlets featuring the love team and global celebrities using them hashtags.

Two years on and the AlDub fun still rages. Members of the AlDub nation from different counties chimed in and sent thousands of tweets sharing their messages for the second anniversary of Aldub.
