UPDATE: Pepe Smith conscious, recovering after stroke

The good news is, Joey ‘Pepe’ Smith is conscious and recovering.

Event promoter Dudee Alfonso updated GMA News Online of Smith's status saying,  “it's is not as bad as the last stroke he had.”

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, this is Smith's third stroke, with the first leaving him with a speech impediment.

There is a clog in his brain, but “buti na naagapan. Hindi siya naputukan ng ugat. He is conscious,” adds Alfonso.

Smith, who was with his manager Mark de Leon, was on his way home to Antipolo from GMA Tuesday when he started calling for his attention. When de Leon looked, Smith's face was already drooping. He then took him to Metro Antipolo Hospital, where he was brought to the stroke unit. 

Smith was set to headline the Pepe Smith Rock Festival, scheduled on November 18. Promoters of the event will issue an announcement within the day. Watch this space. — LA, GMA News
