Kristoffer Martin reinvents himself, beginning with new single under GMA Records 'Paulit Ulit'
Kapuso actor Kristoffer Martin is giving his showbiz career a one-up starting with his latest single under GMA Records "Paulit Ulit."
Kristoffer sang a part of his new song on Monday in front of the media at GMA Network.

Kristoffer revealed to the press that music is his first love, having started singing and writing songs in high school. He said he wanted to go back to his first passion and to shift the focus of his career to music — without having to leave his acting job.
"Siguro po ngayon kasi gusto ko na ikutin 'yun, hilig ko kasi kumanta nung high school pa ako, nagsusulat din kasi ako ng song, parang grinant ko na rin 'yong binigay sakin ng Records, GMA Artist Center na 'yon to sing a song na single, na magsign with GMA Records siyempre thankful po ako d'on," Kristoff said.
"Ayoko naman din iwanan 'yong acting, sobrang minahal ko 'yong acting pero habang bata pa kung kaya mo ikutin lahat, e 'di ikutin natin lahat," he continued.
On his inspiration to music and writing songs
According to Kristoffer, he is inspired by his own experiences as well as stories from his friends.
"Minsan mahilig din po ako na halimbawa 'yung kaibigan ko may kinekwento siya sakin, sa story nila, susulatan ko 'yun dun ako magsusulat 'yun yung gagawin kong inspiration para magsulat."
He mentioned that "A Girl", the first song he ever wrote, was for ex-girlfriend Kapuso star Joyce Ching.
"Dati nagsulat na po ako kay Joyce, nakaupload po 'yun sa YouTube, kinanta ko 'yun nung debut niya."
When asked if he has someone new as his inspiration, he said, "Meron pero non-showbiz, four years."
Apart from getting a release date soon, Kristoffer is hoping the latest song he's written would be a collaboration with some of his fellow Kapuso stars including Mikoy Morales and former "Kahit Nasaan Ka Man" co-star Julie Anne San Jose.
"Nagsusulat din ako, 'di lang ako marunong mag-areglo ng sounds. Siguro if ever makikipagcollab na lang ako, like kay Mikoy Morales, if ever lalapit ako sa isa siguro sa kanila, ang ganda kasi ng sinabi nila sa "Paulit Ulit". Sana next single na ilabas ko, sulat ko na," he said.
For the type of genre he prefers, he said he wants to create something in the likes of Zayn Malik and The Weeknd's music.
"Kung may pipiliin akong klase ng genre siguro, gusto ko yung parang mga Zayn Malik ganon, na more on trap, pero OPM, kasi may narinig akong ganyan trap music siya pero OPM."
On going full blast with self-love
The 23-year-old actor said it was only recently when he started to realize that he has to improve himself to be able to achieve what he wants.
"Hinahayaan ko 'yung sarili ko na ganito... Ngayon ko lang na-realize na, dati kasi go with the flow lang ako eh, bigayan ng project gawin. Ngayon lang ako nag-decide sa sarili ko na gumawa ka na ng way, gumawa ka na ng paraan, " Kristoff said.
The reinvention began with him prioritizing his health, getting into acting workshops with Anthony Bova, and taking care of his music career.
"Ngayon ako nag-sa-start mag-gym, ayan lumabas 'yung single tapos ngayon sobrang 'yung drive ko for workshops. Ngayong inikot ko na po lahat, I'm re-branding myself. Kasi before, kasi yung Kristoffer dati di masyado napapansin eh, [there is] fire [in me] to improve myself," he continued.

He said that he dreams of playing a "kontrabida" role in the future, which is why he's taking his workshops with Bova seriously.
"One whole year po 'yun, and dun nabuhay yung fire sa 'kin na tumanggap ng mas edgy roles. Anthony is training us to be giants in acting."
Kristoffer also mentioned his plans on getting into a franchise business with best friend Bea Binene.
His latest single is included in the OST of the Korean drama "Fight For My Way" on GMA Heart of Asia.
Apart from all his current projects, he said he is preparing for another Cinemalaya film with director Louie Ignacio.
