Will wedding bells ring soon for Geoff Eigenmann and girlfriend Maya?

Actor Geoff Eigenmann revealed that he and his girlfriend Angelie Mae "Maya" Flores are not rushing to tie the knot as they are currently prioritizing their firstborn Baby Arabella.

In an interview with GMA News Online during the press conference for the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series "Contessa" on Monday, Geoff said that they have no plans on getting married yet, but he is sure that it will happen.

"No wedding plans yet, but it's something we've talked about, 'yong priority nga namin is 'yong baby and no rush, but ako for me I know for a fact it will happen," he said.

Relationship changes since Baby Arabella

After welcoming Baby Arabella, Geoff said he and Maya had to make a lot of changes in their relationship, including their decision making process.

"Everything, actually kahit 'yong tulog lang. Sleeping at night is a privilege, 'yong tuluy-tuloy," he said. "Madami kasi, like decisions [that] we make now with my girlfriend are decisions we make not just for us or not just  for me na lang — we're [caring] for another life, we have a baby so whatever we decide on affects our child so our decisions revolve around her talaga."

Geoff added that although he has always been a supporter of women empowerment, he believes in it more after seeing his wife go through pregnancy and the pain of giving birth. 

"I've always been a supporter of women, I've always believed that they are the stronger and better sex, kailangan sila talaga 'yong pinapakinggan eh, " Geoff said, "The world tries to make us believe in lies, kumbaga, for me now truth is coming out that women  are so much better and sila dapat yung pinapakinggan." 

With everything that his girlfriend is going through, the actor said that if he was in his girlfriend's shoes, he would not be able to cope.

"Ako, I [try] to be more understanding of my girlfriend talaga, especially with the things that she's going through. Ako nakikita ko lang, naririnig ko lang 'yong mga kinukuwento niya na pinagdadaanan niya, nasisira na ulo ko," he said, "Paano pa kaya siya na pinagdadaanan niya talaga? Honestly, all I can do is sit back and try to take things in and support her in whatever to her."

"My girlfriend, she's very strong, she's very smart also, she listens to her heart. Just watching her, listening to her words, na-uunderstand ko especially when she explains things to me, mas naiintindihan ko 'yong mga pinagdadaanan niya and it makes me take a sit back and make her more of a priority than what I am going through," he continued.

How fatherhood changed him as a man

Geoff said that fatherhood is the "best thing" that has ever happened in his life.

"Best thing ever, sobrang saya ko, the past six months have changed me totally and I've learned these past six months more than I ever have in my entire. Sobrang ibang klase talaga. I wouldn't trade it or change anything na nangyayare sakin," he said.

Despite his current project with GMA Network, he said he is fortunate to still spend regular time with his daughter. "'Di pa ako nahihiwalay sa kanya ng for more than  24 hours, so that's good" he said. 

Geoff further shared that during shoots, video clips of her daughter would even help him tear up for some scenes.

"I get inspired sa shoot by my daughter, mas nakakatulong siya with work and all that so nakakatulong din siya, like kunwari may scene na gusto kong umiyak, I just watch her videos, 'yong ganon kahit na tears of joy nagagamit ko pa rin, medyo daya daya na lang ng konti pero sobrang mas madali ang buhay ngayon now that she's around."

Geoff will star as Gabriel Caballero on the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime "Contessa" which will premiere on March 19 after Eat Bulaga. — AT, GMA News
