Joey de Leon, Alden celebrate AlDub’s first meeting three years ago

On Instagram Monday, Eat Bulaga! pioneer Joey de Leon just had to honor and observe the first time Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza virtually met for the very first time, three years ago.

Posting a photo of the two with Allan K third-wheeling, Joey greeted the AlDub nation. “Congratulations ALDUBNATION! Today is the Third Anniversary of ALDUB’s First Meeting!”

Alden did the same, too, posting a super kilig black and white photo of himself with Maine on Instagram. In the caption, he thanked all their fans,

On July 16, 2015, the Eat Bulaga! caught on camera Maine Mendoza, then playing Yaya Dub, her pining and crushing hard on Alden Richards.

It was a brief moment but viewers caught her looking longingly, a love team of sorts was formed.

A week later in fact, on July 23, 2015, Maine would mark their first weeksary on Instagram, a mini-occasion that would propel them even further into popularity. 

AlDub would go on to become one of the biggest stories of Philippine showbiz. Their fans from all sorts of market segments religiously followed their story on the daily, which made them constantly go viral and broke Twitter numbers.

International media noticed Aldub, who would appear on magazine covers left and right, sign on endorsement after endorsement after endorsement, and command the Philippine Arena to a soldout show. 

Three years on, Maine and Alden have established their formidable space in show business.
