Regine’s emotional goodbye to GMA-7
On the sixth anniversary of "Sarap Diva," host Regine Velasquez bid her farewell to GMA-7, her home network for two long and beautiful decades.
Asia’s Songbird turned emotional, pausing a few times to hold back her tears as she said thank you to her Kapuso family.
“Thank you Miss Darling, for all the opportunities you have given me. Sina Ma’am Lilybeth, Regie, all my bosses, Mr. Gozon, Mr. Duavit. I have stayed here for two decades. Maraming maraming salamat sa tiwala na binigay ninyo sa akin and for taking good care of me,” she began.
Regine also thanked her kitchen staff for teaching her all the ways in the kitchen and helping her become more confident with her cooking.
“At sa mga pards ko, mahal na mahal ako ng mga pards ko,” Regine said after which she paused as tears welled up.
“Most of all, hinuli ko talaga, yung staff ko and writers ko. Like I said, I’m sure hindi ako perfect na ka-trabaho. So pasensya. Tao lang, minsan may dinadala, but na-aappreciate ko kayo,” she said.
On Saturday, Senior Vice President for GMA Entertainment Content Group Lilybeth Rasonable confirmed in a statement the rumors that Regine was leaving the Kapuso Network. "After two decades, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has officially said her goodbyes to the Kapuso Network. We understand her decision to join her husband and we wish her well as she pursues other opportunities outside GMA Network," she said in a statement.
