Richard Merk is out of ICU, says sister
Richard Merk is now out of the ICU.
On Facebook late Sunday night, his sister Rachelle Anne Wolfe gave an update of the jazz singer’s health after she previously alerted the public of Richard’s deteriorating health.
“Richard is out of the ICU now but his battle continues. He’s emotional and mental condition will take time to heal,” read a portion of her post, where she shared a few results of medical tests that the jazz singer took.
According to Rachelle, Richard’s CT scan results showed that he has cerebral atrophy closely related to symptoms of aging, cardiovascular disease and distress. “He almost suffered a stroke,” she added.
Richard has a host of underlying illnesses including diabetes, Rachelle said. He also suffered from a flesh-eating bacteria that almost required his foot to be amputated.
“My brother Richard is not in good spirits. I know and believe that with genuine love from his family and friends he will get through this. Depression is a major illness that shuts down the body’s spirit,” Rachelle continued, adding singing is what has always kept Richard going.
On Friday, Rachelle first took to Facebook to inform the public that Richard Merk had been rushed to the hospital and was in the ICU.
“His physical health is deteriorating and his mental and emotional health is very weak.
He can’t seem to find strength and love from the most important people in his life,” read a portion of her post.
