Aicelle Santos among Global Pinoy Awardees of Mega Magazine

Aicelle Santos is among the Global Pinoy Awardess of Mega Magazine.

The Kapuso singer and theater actor stands tall alongside Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, theater actor Darren Criss, fashion designer Francis Liberan, R&B singer H.E.R., drag queen Manila Luzon, journalist Maria Ressa, and Barbie lead designer Carlyle Nuera.

“These modern-day Pinoy heroes step further into the light, displaying undeniable talent and tenacity to thrive in their respective fields, proving to the rest of the world that more than swelling sources of pride, they are true forces to be reckoned with,” Mega says of the list of winners bringing Filipino talent to the global stage.

Mega highlighted Aicelle’s yearlong stint as Gigi Van Tranh in the UK Tour Productions of Miss Saigon. “Aicelle was firm in her belief to the Filipino talent,” Mega’s Francesa Testa writes of the Kapuso celebrity.

“’I’m really proud kasi kapag nasa stage ako—hindi dahil Pinoy ako, hindi dahil nagbubuhat ako ng bangko—pero kasi we’re driven by passion. So bukod sa talent—’yung talent wala ka nang masasabi pa—but ‘yung passion, it adds more, eh’,” Aicelle was quoted as saying.

“Whenever [Filipinos] are on stage, you just feel it; it’s so true,” Aicelle continued.

She should know. Aicelle recently performed in Hong Kong for the Philippine Independence Day celebration with Christian Bautista. And at recent Asian Culture Carnival in Bejing, none shone brighter than Aicelle

Every year on Independence Day, Mega honors outstanding Filipinos who bring the country pride as well as the young breed who keep pushing boundaries in their respective fields. — LA, GMA News
