'Family History' is the best project for GMA Pictures' comeback, says GMA SVP Lilybeth Rasonable

"Family History" is significant in more ways than one.

Apart from it being Michael V's directorial debut, the movie is also GMA Pictures' comeback in the local film industry — and GMA Network SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth Rasonable said it was perfect project our the network's return to film.

According to Rasonable, GMA has "been wanting to return to the business of making films, but we were looking for the right project to make the re-entry extra special and memorable for the public."

GMA management found the right reason for the comeback when Michael V's pitch came along.

"Family History" revolves around Alex Dela Cruz (Michael V) who is happily married to May (Dawn Zulueta), until a life-changing disease challenges both his family and his marriage.

She said, "Family History was the right project. We thought that would be the best way to reenter the film making business."  

"Family History" is written, co-produced and directed by Michael V. A mixture of drama, comedy and romance, the film stars Dawn Zulueta, Michael V, Bianca Umali, and Miguel Tanfelix among others.

It's set to hit theaters nationwide on July 24. — LA, GMA News
