Kathryn Bernardo on doing first scene with Alden Richards: 'Weird, sobrang weird...nakakapanibago'

At the "Hello, Love, Goodbye" grand press conference on Tuesday, Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards shared their experience on doing their first-ever scene together.

According to Kathryn, it was "weird, sobrang weird."

She added, "Nakakapanibago pero naging okay sa mga remaining days na po."

Besides, the unfamiliarity of it all, Kathryn said their very first scene together was not particularly easy.

"Hindi siya madali, ‘yong first scene namin," she said. "Medyo mahirap ‘yong sa 'kin po kasi, kung mapanuod niyo."

Kathryn shared their very first shoot is also their actual first scene together in the film.

"‘Pag napanuod niyo ‘yong movie ‘yong first encounter ni Ethan kay Joy ‘yon talaga ‘yong first," she said.

Alden said he understands where Kathryn is coming from, since he also has his fair share of surprising moments with Kathryn, even during their mall shows together.

"Naiintindihan ko naman po kasi may instances talaga kami ni Kat even kahit sa mga mall show meron talagang ‘yong mga gulat moments na parang nakakapanibago," Alden shared.

The Kapuso actor said he knows it feels weird for Kathryn to be paired with someone new, because she has been mostly partnered with Daniel for romantic drama films almost a decade.

"I can understand Kat. Naiintindihan ko po siya na medyo weird kasi parang for the longest time si Daniel po ‘yong nakakasama niya sa mga projects and promotions," Alden said. "Doon sa gulat factor ni Kat pero ako rin po medyo nagugulat kasi ‘yong first scene namin together medyo mabigat siya eh."

Although it was their first time working together, Alden said Kathryn helped him get through their first scene.

"Sa sobrang in-character ni Kat doon sa moment parang nadala po niya ako, so hindi naman po nahirapan si Direk masyado shooting that scene," Alden shared.

He added, "Nagulat po ako doon sa naibigay ko sa eksena and sa naibigay ni Kat sa 'kin to help me with that scene."

Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, meanwhile, said that she intentionally planned to make them do a heavy first scene together to see what they've got as a pair.

"Sinadya ko na ang first scene would be the first scene also together in the movie," Direk Cathy said. "Kasi nga di ba hindi ko alam paano sila together on screen, I have never seen them together on screen except nung storycon at ang ating look test."

"So I would see kung anong meron sila, so kung anong mapapanuod niyo ‘yon po ang meron sila," she added.

“Hello, Love, Goodbye” opens on cinemas on July 31. With Alden and Kathryn are Lovely Abella, Joross Gamboa, Kakai Bautista, Maymay Entrata, Jameson Blake and Jefferey Tam. — LA, GMA News
