Drew Arellano continues his journey as a Kapuso after 14 years with GMA Network
Unusually dressed up in a suit, Drew Arellano renewed his contract with GMA Network on Tuesday, October 8.
Present during the contract signing were GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon, GMA News and Public Affairs executives, Senior Vice President Marissa Flores, First Vice President Nessa Valdellon.
“This like a big pat on my back after 14 years and I’m very happy,” Drew told GMA entertainment reporters in an interview after his contract signing.
Drew said his love for his job as a travel and an edutainment host to kids is what makes him stay more than a decade.
“You know what they say, if you love your job it doesn’t seem like a job that’s the reason why I’ve been travelling with the Biyahe ni Drew crew or trying to make kids smarter because of AHA! I feel like it doesn’t feel like a job,” he said.
Even after 14 years of being a host in GMA, Drew said he still feels overwhelmed to have his name in the title of the show.
“There’s one thing that your name is actually part of the show, I’m still blown away after 14 years na parang what so, I can’t be absent, it can’t be 'Biyahe ni...'” Drew said.
Despite being the star and host of his shows, he gives all the credit to his team.
“It’s not just the trust. There’s that huge responsibility — hey it’s my show we have to own it! Of course I’m not taking the credit, I’m giving pretty much all of the credit to my team because they are really the backbone of the show,” he added.
Meanwile, Mr. Gozon said he feels honored to have a talented host like Drew to stay with the network for more than a decade.
“Nandito siya sa atin ng 14 years is well-appreciated at isa naman siya sa magagaling nating talents for Public Affairs,” he said.
“Biniro ko nga siya na kain siya ng kain hindi siya tumataba. Tayo naman talaga ay galak na galak na pinili nanaman niyang manatili sa ating estasyon,” he added. — LA, GMA News
