Derek Ramsay warns public of scammer using his name to invite women to 'private stag party'

Actor and athlete Derek Ramsay took to social media to warn the public of a scammer using his name to invite women over to a "private party" where they'll pretend to be the men's girlfriends.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Derek said that the scam has been going around for years and still hasn't stopped.

Derek shared a screenshot of travel and lifestyle vlogger Jamila Joyce Castillo's post on Facebook dated September 9.

In Castillo's post, she shared that the scammer was posing as her and sending messages to her social media influencer friends about attending a "stag party" for Derek.

One of Castillo's friends thankfully found the scammer suspicious and sent copies of her conversation with the unknown individual to the real Castillo.

In the screenshot, the scammer introduced herself as Castillo, urging Castillo's friend to go to Derek's "stag party" with a payment of 150,000 pesos.

"Sabi ni Derek parang gf nila that night. Eat, drink, lambingin ganon daw," the scammer said.

When Castillo's friend was finding the whole endeavor sketchy, the scammer assured her, "I met him [Derek] already. Private party 'yun. 3 lang sila. Ayaw nila ng model type kasi baka daw kilala nila. Awkward daw. Siya nagsabi na ako nalang daw then hanap pa ng 2."

Both Derek and Castillo clarified that they had nothing to do with the person texting these things. They called on the public to share any information they could have about the scammer. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
