Gretchen brings back ghost of ‘94 film fest after Ruffa greets Julia on Instagram

Gretchen Barretto threw shade at Ruffa Gutierrez after the actress-turned-beauty queen praised one of niece Julia Barretto's morning selfies on Instagram.

The Barrettos are in the middle of an intra-family conflict with Gretchen and Claudine on one side, and their sister Marjorie on the other.

Julia is one of Marjorie's daughters.

According to a report on "24 Oras", Gretchen posted a screenshot of Gutierrez's comment on Julia's selfie, with a snarky caption.

"Sawsaw pa more, Ruffy! Take it, take it," Gretchen said in the caption.

Gretchen and Ruffa both figured in a controversy at the Manila Film Festival in 1994.

Gretchen, a presenter, blew the whistle after Viveca Babajee announced that Ruffa was winner of the best actress award when Aiko Melendez's name was on the envelope. 

A Senate investigation was even conducted on the issue.

In response to Gretchen's remark, Gutierrez's mother Annabelle Rama took to Instagram to defend her daughter.

In a deleted IG post, the Gutierrez matriarch said, "Bakit galit ka sa comment ng anak ko, masama bang mag-comment ng positive?"

As of now, Gretchen hasn't replied to Rama's question. —Angelica Yang/NB, GMA News
