Fil-Korean actress in 'Birds of Prey' proud of her Pinoy roots

Filipino-Korean actress Ella Jay Basco gave a shoutout to her Philippine heritage after playing Cassandra Cain in DC film's "Birds of Prey."

"This movie is for you Philippines!" Basco said in a tweet. "My Grandpa is from Pangasinan and my Grandma is from Zambales."

In the film, Basco portrays the character of Cassandra, an orphaned thief who finds herself right in the middle of a hunt and becomes part of Harley Quinn's girl squad.

Basco is also the niece of Dante Basco, the Filipino-American actor known for playing the role of Rufio in the 1991 film "Hook." —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
