Matteo Guidicelli named National Youth Commission ambassador

Actor and Philippine Army reservist Matteo Guidicelli was named youth ambassador of the National Youth Commission on Monday.

In a Facebook post, the NYC said the appointment was based on the Commission's Resolution No. 26, series of 2019, which "recognizes his significant contribution to youth development."

According to the NYC, Guidicelli's patriotism and nationalism which he manifested by being a reservist, is "expected to serve as inspiration and encouragement for the Filipino youth in the fulfillment of their role in nation-building."

The 29-year-old Guidicelli, who ranks as second lieutenant, expressed his gratitude to the NYC on Twitter, saying "it is an honor and privilege" to be appointed as youth ambassador.

The NYC also said that through this recognition, it looks forward to "further enhance youth empowerment."

Guidicelli was sworn in as a member of the Army reserve command in April 2019.

Prior to being an Army reservist, Guidicelli also joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary with Nico Bolzico and Erwan Heusaff.

Recently, Guidicelli married his longtime girlfriend Sarah Geronimo in a secret ceremony last February 20. He announced their engagement in November 2019. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/MGP, GMA News
