"The Clash" finalist Thea Astley experienced a "mix of emotions" after signing a contract with GMA Artist Center in Quezon City on Tuesday.

While it was a dream come true, the singer revealed that her mother, father, and sister are in Qatar where travelers from 14 countries, including the Philippines, have been barred as a precaution against the rapidly spreading coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"I'm happy kasi this is my dream eh parangarap ko 'to, kaya naman po ako sumali ng The Clash, kasi I want to create my own music. Pero, at the same time, syempre, mahirap din po kasi na malayo sa pamilya," Thea during an interview.

"Pero, ultimately, at the end of the day naman po, iniisip ko nalang na kailagan ko lang pagbutihin to kasi ginagawa ko naman to para sa pamilya ko. Kaya, masaya," she added.

Thea is also praying for everyone's safety amid the outbreak, and said she's hoping to fly back and see her family later this year.

"Kailangan ko ring bumalik doon ng at least August or September, so sana hopefully tapos na yung travel ban and wala na 'yung virus by that time," she said.

Thea was joined at the signing by The Clash 2's Grand Champion Jeremiah Tiangco, who also inked a contract with GMA Artist Center.

She and Jeremiah went head-to-head at the finale last December, where Jeremiah belted out out to "I Believe" by Fantasia Barrino while Thea sang "A Natural Woman."

"Syempre sobrang blessed lang po 'yung feeling. Hindi naman po namin inexpect na from The Clash makakarating kami dito," Thea said at the signing.

"So kami ay nagpapasalamat po talaga."
