For new song 'Lifetime' Ben&Ben worked Maroon 5, Rihanna engineer Leon Zervos

Ben&Ben revealed that for "Lifetime," they worked with master engineer Leon Zervos, the same guy who has mastered songs for international artists including Maroon 5, P!nk, and Rihanna among others.

"Nagulat din kami kasi big time siyang mastering engineer. Of course with the help of our record label Sony Music Philippines, we were able to get in touch with him. Thankfully, he said yes to our project," Ben&Ben told the press in a private listening and mini press conference via Zoom on Monday.

The award-winning nine-piece collective said "Lifetime" is the third song they worked on with Leon: the first was the remastered version of "Fall," and the second was for their first international single "Doors."

"'Eto yung third it's been a treat being able to work with Leon Zervos especially knowing the clients that he's been able to master music for," they said.

"When we received the master of the file, iba eh iba yung clarity," they added.

Ben&Ben shared that the title of their new song, "Lifetime," was inspired by a netizen's comment left on the band's "Pagtingin" video on YouTube.

The netizen with the username Anne Jou shared her missed chance at love. She narrated who she attended the wedding of her best friend, with whom she's been secretly in love with since high school.

"Before his wedding he thanked me for being his best friend and told me that before he met the girl he got married to, he loved me first. For 5 years. But he was also scared of losing me so he just decided to keep it," she said.

"We didn't know that if only one of us dared to make a move, a lifetime was waiting for us," she added.

The last line in particular, "a lifetime was waiting for us," has sparked inspiration to the band.

"It became one of the first few lines na nasulat doon sa song which turned out to be its chorus and its title."

"Lifetime" will be launched on June 4, Thursday. — LA, GMA News
