Kapuso child actor Heath Jornales shows off martial arts skills

Kapuso child actor Heath Jornales may just be the action star of the future.

The son of Michael Roy Jornales, who played the character Apek in the hit fantasy series "Encantadia," has been learning martial arts with his dad!

According Lhar Santiago's report for "24 Oras," the new member of the GMA Artist Center has been honing his skills in taekwondo, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu.

"Nagstart po ako mag-training nang mga six years old po ako. Nakikisali na po kasi ako sa training ni Daddy," the 11-year-old Heath said.

Michael Roy is also a stunt director and a fight instructor. He said his son initially just tagged along with him when he was teaching classes.

"Nanood siya, and then makikita mo sa side na nagsisipa-sipa na siya ng konti, tapos ginagaya niya 'yung mga moves," said the actor, who also appeared in "Beautiful Justice."

Heath said he got hurt before when training, but he was proud of himself because he did not cry.

He also said he is excited to act and follow his dad's footsteps.

"Alam kong napakagandang opportunity po para kay Heath," Michael said. "Mahal naman niya ang acting talaga, nag-e-enjoy siya. Nakikita ko 'yun pagka nagshoshoot siya ng commercials." —MGP, GMA News
