Here’s what Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis-Smith think about ‘quaranflings’

Have you ever heard of a “quaranfling”?

For lack of an official definition, the Urban Dictionary website explains “quaranfling” as “an online dating encounter that begins during quarantine.”

The widely discussed topic on social media was brought up with Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis-Smith during an online Zoom conference for their upcoming series “I Can See You: Love on the Balcony,” and both weighed in with interesting points.

Alden, for one, stressed that “consistency is the key” when it comes to relationships.

“Kung gaano kayo ka-consistent during the ‘quaranfling’ period, sana pagdating sa normal, you’re willing to, in [order] to sustain the relationship, you have to be consistent also right after. Siguro ’yun lang ’yung mapapayo ko sa mga nag-start ’yung relationship during the quarantine,” said Asia’s Multimedia Star.

Jasmine, on the other hand, likened “quaranflings” to long distance relationships.

“Yeah, it’s the same thing. Kasi, potentially, para kayong naka-long distance eh, you know?” said the Kapuso Leading Lady.

“Kapag naka-long distance kayo, ’pag hindi kayo magkasama physically, kailangan mapakita mo na you’re there. You’re somehow just there for a person, no matter where you are, no matter what time it is,” she explained.

Jasmine also sees how quaran-flings could get “challenging” as time passes, but adds there is always a way to make true love last.

“It will be a challenge, I’m sure, and I’m sure for some people, ma-we-weirdohan sila to see the whoever they’re flirting with or having a fling with for the first time, but kung gusto naman talaga may paraan diba? Magagawan niyo ng paraan ... You are where you’re supposed to be,” the actress said.

Alden and Jasmine are starring on “Love on the Balcony,” the pilot episode of GMA-7’s new weekly anthology “I Can See You” airing this Monday, Sept. 28.

Jasmine plays a young, hardworking nurse who navigates her life in the new normal with the help of her charming neighbor played by Alden.

“The story will tell the audience na kahit ano pa ang mangyari sa buhay natin regardless of where we are and what we do, there’s always love right around the corner,” Alden said. – RC, GMA News
