Dingdong Dantes on ‘Descendants of the Sun Philippines’ coming to Netflix: ‘Makes us proud to be Filipinos’

Dingdong Dantes, the lead actor of the Philippine adaptation of “Descendants of the Sun,” has shared how proud he is that their drama will be back on television and is also coming to Netflix.

During the show's media conference on Wednesday, the actor shared that the latest achievements “makes us proud Kapuso, much more, makes us proud to be Filipinos.”

He also expressed happiness not only for GMA-7 and DOTS but also for Filipino actors as the show would soon be available on Netflix.

“Kasi mas magkakaroon na ng wider reach ’yung audience, mas nakakarating sa malalayong lugar ’yung trabaho natin because of the platform, mas nagka-access ’yung maraming viewers,” Dingdong said. “Hopefully more projects for Filipino talents. We do it one step at a time.”

Costar Rocco Nacino also shared how proud he was to be part of the project.

“Very proud to be part of this project that has made a difference and has become a game changer in this field,” Rocco said. “Nice to know na you’re part of something na tumatak.”

Jasmine Curtis-Smith, meanwhile, said viewers who weren’t convinced at first to watch the adaptation may now want to give it a try.

“Maybe now they’ll be convinced because we’ve been picked up by a trusted online platform and they can see the value,” the actress said.

“Descendants of the Sun Philippines” is set to return to television Oct. 26 starting with a two-week recap.

It will also be available on Netflix starting Nov. 13. – RC, GMA News
