Aiko Melendez says 'Prima Donnas' may be her last project with kontrabida role

Aiko Melendez is an effective kontrabida in any drama series, but looks like the veteran actress has had enough of playing the villain.

In a Zoom interview with entertainment reporters on Friday, Aiko said "Prima Donnas" may be her last project where she plays an antagonist.

In the GMA afternoon prime series, Aiko plays Kendra, who torments Katrina Halili's character Lilian.

"For next year, isa sa plano ko is mag-iba naman ng role," Aiko said. "I wanted to try something different kasi medyo nakaka-drain din kapag kontrabida ka nang kontrabida."

"Your audiences are gonna get tired also of watching you doing the same old thing," she added. "If the right offer would come in, why not di ba?"

Aiko said she already told her manager about her plans to beg off further kontrabida roles.

With "Prima Donnas" potentially her last appearance as a villain, she said will give her best as the series resumes after a long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Ibibigay ko na 'tong todo-todo na 'to," she said.

"Prima Donnas" will return to air with fresh episodes on Monday. —MGP, GMA News
