Heart Evangelista to match auction earnings with donation from own savings to give to charity

Heart Evangelista vowed to match what she earned from her designer clothes auction and donate the same amount of money from her own savings to typhoon victims and other beneficiaries.

"Recently I had to say goodbye to some of the pieces I love but knowing it's for a good cause....minsan na-ooverwhelm kami kasi a few minutes sold out na 'yung piece," the actress told GMA News Online on Friday. "And because they buy it, because tinatangkilik nila gamit ko, I will also donate the same amount from my savings also to charity. It's a task, it's something I love to do and it's rightfully so that I do it."

She added, "I promised myself since the lockdown began that I would do my part as much as I can so everyday I help someone out on Twitter, create more funds that will help me buy tablets."

Just this week, Heart announced that she will be putting her favorite designer pieces on auction with proceeds to be donated to those affected by Typhoon Ulysses.

The actress also said that the money she earned from the auction goes a long way. Aside from aiding typhoon victims, Heart said that it also helped a patient pay for his operation.

"'Yung iba sa nasalanta ng bagyo, 'yung iba actually went to a patient who needed an operation," Heart said. "He got operated today. Fully paid na 'yung operation niya."

She added, "Marami siya napupuntahan. I just don’t talk about it as much because I want to do more instead of keep talking about it."

Heart also shared that her Big Heart PH project, which aims to give free tablets to students amid online learning, has already given out 1,000 tablets—JCB, GMA News
