Nikki Valdez reveals COVID-19 battle
Nikki Valdez revealed she and her husband have finally recovered after battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a series of Instagram posts, the actress opened up about her and her husband's journey, after they tested positive two weeks ago.
"It was so painful, we both did not know how to react. We were both just staring out the window. All we could think of was my mom who was a senior and my daughter who lived with us," Nikki said.
The first few days were the hardest, said the actress, especially since she experienced multiple symptoms. She felt body aches, mild dry coughing, 'flu-like feeling 1000x worse' even though her body temperature was normal.
The actress added that the 14-day quarantine was hard since she could only talk to her daughter through video calls.
"COVID is more than a virus. It will toy not only with your physical health but mostly with your emotions. It's been the hardest first 7 days in isolation," Nikki said.
Thankful for her family and friends for the love and support, and her doctors for helping them recover, the actress rejoiced that they were able to recover on Saturday.
"Trials will break you if you allow it to but 14 days in isolation has given Luis and I once again a healthier perspective on things and has just made our whole family stronger together," Nikki said.
On Saturday, Nikki's drama series co-star Heaven Peralejo also revealed she tested positive with the virus. She was initially isolated in a hotel but was transferred to a hospital after her symptoms got worse.
Aside from Nikki and Heaven, more and more celebrities have revealed they tested positive with COVID-19. This month alone, Rhian Ramos and K Brosas revealed they've recovered from the disease, while Jean Garcia's mother passed away after battling the virus. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
