Snooky Serna wins 2 major awards at 11th International Film Festival Manhattan in New York

Snooky Serna bagged the Jury Award Best Performance and Best Actress Award at the 11th International Film Festival Manhattan in New York.

According to Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the veteran actress earned the awards for her role in the film "In the Name of the Mother."

Snooky said she can't help but feel emotional about the recognition.

"I really don't want to cry but I shed a tear. I really did not expect it at all that I'll win and I won two awards," she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

"It was a dream come true for me," she added.

Snooky said that being recognized abroad is a "humbling experience" for her. She is the first actor to win two major awards at the film festival.

Rita Daniela, who starred alongside Snooky, received an honorable mention.
