'Heartbroken' Rica Peralejo cries about being away from her family this Christmas

Have you ever sent a hilarious selfie to the group chat while telling them some sad news?

Rica Peralejo just posted a relatable photo of herself “ugly-crying” on Instagram, saying she sent it to her family in the United States since her vaccination schedule did not allow her to fly there for Christmas.

“Heartbroken,” the former actress said she posted the pic to share some important thoughts about spending time with her loved ones.

She said that “So many people are not having the usual happy Christmas” and that she was just “one of them.”

“There is nothing I want more but to be with my fam in the US right now. I believe many of us lost people we love in the past years, too, and the holidays make us feel that loss even more,” she wrote.

She then gushed about her family, which she described as "great."

“There were years that I believed some people were better after being blinded by cultures that promote theirs is superior,” she said.

“But whenever I get to the bottom of it, our family, though not perfect, gave me a safe space and above all: STAYED THRU AND THRU. Yeah sure we fought, but they still included me in everything and treated me, well, family," she added.

Rica then went on to say that “many will claim to be family to you but only those who will stay through the differences, who will unconditionally love you, accept you, not change you, even when you don’t agree on everything, will prove to be true and lasting.”

“This Peralejo fam of mine is running 40 years and still going. People who carried me to the car when I was drunk, people who cried when I was harsh, people who nursed me when I was abandoned by those I had offered my life and service to,” she said.

“Maybe it had to take that much for me to know there is a gift in the family I am a part of," she added.
