Jeric Gonzales, Yasmien Kurdi to star in Philippine adaptation of ‘Start-Up’ alongside Bea Alonzo, Alden Richards

Jeric Gonzales and Yasmien Kurdi are set to star in the Philippine adaptation of "Start-Up" alongside Bea Alonzo and Alden Richards.

Their participation in the hit Korean drama series adaptation was revealed on "24 Oras" Tuesday.

Yasmien expressed excitement for the new project and her character, saying she herself was a fan of the Korean series.

"Noong kasagsagan ng lockdown ito 'yung pinapanood ko talaga," she told Nelson Canlas. "Kaya noong sinabi sa akin, regarding the show, sobrang na-excite ako."

She also said it would be her first time to work with Alden, Bea, and Jeric.

"I'm so excited kasi it's a new set of cast, and it's very refreshing, very new. Ang saya lang kasi ang tagal ko na rin silang gustong maka-work, at finally makakasama ko na sila ngayon," she said.

For Jeric, meanwhile, this project is the "biggest break" given to him by his home network GMA-7.

"Andoon yung pressure, of course, always, but it's a good pressure na ma-challenge ako dito sa role na ito," Jeric said.

"I never imagined na mapapasama ako sa remake na ‘to sa Start-Up," he said in an interview with the internal press of GMA Network.

Jeric told the press he was thankful to GMA and "excited to work with our big stars" Alden, Bea, and Yasmien.

"Since napanuod ko ‘yung Start-Up and ang ganda ng story and ang ganda ng character plus ‘yung mga kasama ko talagang magagaling at malalaking stars natin sa showbiz industry," he said.

"Of course they are great actors and actresses, dito ko macha-challenge talaga 'yung sarili ko."

"Start-Up," a series about young entrepreneurs dreaming and working to hit it big and become successful, became a hit in 2020 when viewers and netizens started rooting for Team Good Boy and Team Do San.

It is yet to be revealed who will play the Filipino version of the characters in "Start-Up."

On March 4, it was revealed on "24Oras" that Alden and Bea will topbill the drama and it will be their first highly anticipated pairing—JAB, GMA News.
