KC Concepcion asks fans to support 'Asian Persuasion' as film crowdfunds for post-production costs

The upcoming romantic comedy film "Asian Persuasion" has started a crowdfunding drive to help its post-production costs.

The film, which stars KC Concepcion, wrapped up principal photography in May and is expected to be completed in September.

However, it hit a snag when one of its main cast contracted COVID-19 and production was delayed for 12 days, costing $100,000 in production expenses.

"We are asking for your help to recover the funds lost during our 1-week pause. While we are actively continuing to fundraise throughout the post-production period, we currently need $100,000 to supplement our ongoing private fundraising efforts to complete this movie," the crowdfunding statement read.

KC also shared the crowdfunding effort on her Instagram account.

"We can't do this without you. Any amount would help—but most importantly, as we aspire to see our stories, our faces, our languages, our music, our talent, our skill, and our cultures, we can come together right now... one Asian project at a time," KC said.

"I think I speak for so many Asian actors who grew up wishing and waiting for this time to come for us to be seen, heard, and represented, in all our different skin tones, body shapes, and backgrounds."

"Asian Persuasion" tells the story of a divorced man who pulls a scheme to marry off his ex-wife in order to avoid paying alimony. It's a convoluted plot, but it gets even more complicated when he realizes he wants a second chance.

Aside from KC, other Filipinos in the cast include Dante Basco, Paolo Montalban, Tony Labrusca, and Yam Concepcion.
