Celebrities pay tribute to Cherie Gil


Following the announcement of Cherie Gil's passing, her friends and fellow celebrities honored her on social media.

Dennis Trillo, who worked with Cherie in “Legal Wives,” posted a photo of a scene together with the caption “Paalam Inakolay…”

 

 

 

Sharon Cuneta, Cherie’s co-star in the iconic film, “Bituing Walang Ningning,” posted a reel of their moments on- and off-screen. The Megastar set the video to Ben&Ben’s song “Leaves” and only had broken heart emojis in her caption.

 

 

 

Zsa Zsa Padilla paid tribute to her close friend and “Ika-13 Kapitulo” co-star in a lengthy Instagram post.

The Divine Diva reminisced about their time together and posted a screenshot of their sweet messages.

 

 

 

“I’ll never forget how beautiful and vibrant you were when you celebrated your golden birthday! You danced the tango and I remember thinking — this woman can do anything she puts her heart into! You were always so passionate and full of life! That’s how I will always remember you, Cherie, my Gemini sister," she wrote.

"I miss you, my beautiful friend. Until we meet again. My deepest condolences to Cherie’s family," she added.

Jon Lucas also shared a moment with Cherie on his personal Facebook account in a public post.

 

They worked together in 2020, in an anniversary episode of the anthology show “Tadhana.”

Jon admitted that he first felt intimidated working with the award-winning actress but said, “Noong araw na yon mali ako.”

“Napakabait ni Ms. Cherie Gil. Mahal niya ng sobra ang ginagawa niya kaya siguro nafifeel ng iba na masyado siyang seryoso. She was really one of a kind. Isa itong episode na to na lagi kong babaunin kasi nakatrabaho ko siya,” he added. “She was something, not a second-rate, not trying hard, never a copycat.”

In her Instagram Stories, Kyline Alcantara shared videos of their first meeting. Kyline was clearly happy to meet and hug her.

 


Cherie and Kyline also reenacted the iconic “You’re nothing but a second-rate, trying hard, copycat” scene.

On Twitter, Gabbi Garcia retweeted a scene from their “Magpakailanman” episode in 2015.

 

 

 

She said, “Ms. Cherie Gil, one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with. I will forever treasure this. Truly an honor.”

Barbie Forteza tweeted, “Truly one of the greatest actresses of all time. You were one of the reasons why I wanted to become an actor. Rest in power, Ms. Cherie Gil.”

 

 

 

Cherie was announced to have passed away on Friday night. She was 59.
